About Me
I am a Forensic Psychologist with over 20 years’ experience working across clinical, forensic and academic settings. I specialise in supporting adolescents and adults who are struggling with the lasting impact of trauma, difficult life experiences and complex behavioural patterns.
My clients describe me as a warm, compassionate, and down to earth psychologist who creates a safe, supportive space for deep personal change. They highlight the genuine trust I build, that leads to life‑changing breakthroughs — from healing long‑held trauma through EMDR to transforming self‑understanding, confidence, and well‑being.

What I do
Through Resilient Minds Psychology UK, I provide compassionate, evidence-based psychological therapy, assessments and expert witness services. My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed and tailored to each individual, helping people understand their experiences and develop healthier ways of coping.
Just like a tiny flutter of a butterfly's wing, small shifts from within create the biggest transformations.
WHO I SUPPORT
I support people facing a range of challenges, including the experiences below.
Living with Disability
“When everyday life can feel amplified - the highs can feel extremely uplifting, but the lows can feel deeply overwhelming”
Living with the direct impacts of disability, either personally, as a parent - career, or sibling, can be life changing. Whilst we often find immense joy in the things many others can take for granted, life can also feel extremely challenging and unfair at times. Emotional weight can build quietly over time, overwhelm, guilt, grief, isolation can become exhausting.
Being a parent carer myself allows me to bring a blended approach of both lived experience and psychological expertise. This allows me to walk alongside my clients, as they build psychological resilience to navigate the challenges that only those on this unique journey will encounter.

Complex Trauma Behavioural Patterns
"When attempts at coping feels overwhelming, out of control or unsafe"
You might find yourself using unhelpful strategies to try and cope with distress, such as withdrawing, substance misuse, self-injury, or reacting in ways that don’t feel like ‘you’. These responses often make sense in the context of past or ongoing trauma, but can create difficulties for our health and safe relationships.
I believe all behaviours are trying to meet a valid need, including behaviours that can be harmful to ourselves and others. Throughout my career I have developed a passion for supporting people to look beyond shame, to uncover what is underneath and create healthy ways to meet needs.

High-Functioning /
High-Masking Individuals
"When everything looks ‘fine’ on the outside, but feels different underneath"
You may appear to be coping well in work or daily life, but internally feel anxious, overwhelmed or disconnected. You might be used to masking how you feel, pushing yourself to keep going, or holding things together for others, often at the expense of your own wellbeing.
I am dedicated to providing a safe, supportive and non judgemental space. I value collaboration and together we can build awareness into deep-rooted patterns. I am passionate in supporting my clients in building their self-compassion alongside building insights, which helps creates space for meaningful and lasting change.
From cocoon to butterfly: transformation unfolds when we feel safe to grow.
Testimonials
"I’d never had therapy before and was sceptical. That changed as soon as I met Louisa. She made me feel completely at ease – direct but always kind.
Through our work together, including EMDR, a deeply traumatic memory that had haunted me for over 30 years was finally healed. I can think about it now without the overwhelming rage and hopelessness I felt before.
It isn’t easy work, but with Louisa guiding you it can be done. I trusted her completely. Saying she changed my life may sound like a cliché, but she truly did."
June 2025
“It is not an exaggeration to say that Louisa changed my life. After experiencing significant birth trauma, I found myself stuck in a loop, reliving the worst day of my life and cycling feelings of sadness, anger, guilt, and shame.
Louisa took the time to get to know me, building a trusting relationship which allowed me to feel comfortable telling her about the event, without judgement. She really listened, and helped me understand why I felt the way I felt. Through EMDR I was able to process what happened, and whilst I do occasionally feel sad, Louisa provided me with a toolkit of coping strategies that I'm able to use. I finally feel like myself again.”
May 2026
"I came to therapy with one problem, but through working with Louisa I ended up understanding myself much better.
The journey wasn’t always easy, but her support, encouragement and patience made all the difference. The strategies we developed together have helped me feel stronger and more stable than I ever have before.
I’m now in the best position mentally I’ve ever been in."
